ESL Pro League tournament structure
The structure of the ESL Pro League allows for 32 participating teams from around the four regions. 15 permanent partner teams automatically have a slot in the group stage and they are joined by 14 qualifying teams from the conference stage, leaving three slots to be filled teams based on their ESL World Ranking.
With this structured method, the tournament allows for the balancing of both experienced teams and inexperienced teams and plays a big role in harbouring new talent, into top end CS2 competition.
At the Group Stage, all 32 participating teams are split into four groups of eight each. Every team will compete in a triple-elimination format, with all matches, played in a best-of-3 game type.
The top four teams from each group will advance to the Playoffs. The winners of each group will advance to the quarterfinals, while second-placed teams will advance through to the round of 12 as “high seeds”. The third-placed teams will advance to the round of 16 as the “high seeds” and the fourth-placed teams will advance to the round of 16 as the “low seeds”. The winners of the Round of 12 series will join the group winners in the quarterfinals and compete for a chance to be amongst the four teams to make it through to the semi-finals.
The CS2 ESL Pro League semi-finals will see the four teams battle in a bid to secure a spot in the Grand Final. Unlike the rest of the tournament, the Grand Final is played in a best-of-5 contest.

CS2 ESL Pro League bet types
There are various betting options on the CS2 ESL Pro League for the 2024 edition. You can bet on the ESL Pro League and there are many different bet types you can wager with. These include pre-tournament markets like outright winner and group winners.
As the tournament draws nearer match-day markets will launch at online bookies, with these including things like map betting and head to head betting.
Some of the most popular bet types available on the ESL Pro League 2023 include:
- ESL Pro League outright tournament winner
Here, a bettor is allowed to predict the possible winner of the ESL Pro League 2024 (Season 19) and stake any amount (bearing in mind the minimum bet allowed) he/she wishes on that team becoming the champions. If the team eventually becomes the winner of the tournament, the bettor wins the bet. - Group Winner
This option allows the bettor to choose the team that will finish in the top spot of the ESL Pro League group(s). This could be done as it pertains to a group or the bettor can choose to predict across all four groups. - Match Winner
The bettor wagers on the outcome of an ESL Pro League match. He/she ascertains who between any two competing teams will triumph over the other in a given match. While their odds will reflect their current form and other key variables, it is also imperative to note that news surrounding the involved teams could impact the outcome of the match. The news could be the absence of a key player due to sickness or circumstances or coaching staff. Hence the need to always research the teams’ news and statistics before making a match-winner wager.
- Handicap (Maps)
This type of ESL Pro League bet allows the bettor to place wagers exclusively based on the maps of an ESL Pro League match. This option involves giving a supposed strong team a map-based disadvantage or the weaker team an advantage. The bettor can wager on the stronger team securing more maps despite deducting a certain number of maps away from his total or vice-versa with a weaker team. For example, if FaZe Clan were to play against ENCE and the bettor affixes a -1.5 map handicap on FaZe Clan. For the bettor to win the bet, FaZe would be expected to win the match by a margin of 2 or more maps.
If ENCE was given an advantage of a +1.5 map handicap, the bettor would win if ENCE loses or wins by a map differential.
- Total Maps (Over/Under)
Here, the bettor predicts the total maps to be attained in an ESL Pro League fixture. The bettor is expected to choose either over a certain number of maps to be achieved in a match or under a certain number of maps. The bettor wins the bet if the total number of maps in the match exceeds the affixed limit. If the total number of maps in the game equals or is less than that of the limit chosen in the wager, the bettor loses.
