Tournament favourites Gen.G and their LoL Champions Korea (LCK) rivals T1 will cross swords on Sunday, October 27, in the League of Legends World Championship 2024 semifinals.

It will be their first meeting since Week 7 of LCK 2024 Summer, and according to the best esports betting sites, the grand final ticket should end in the hands of Gen.G.

Seeing Gen.G priced as favourites for this series should not surprise anyone, as they have been the better team throughout the summer split. However, T1 have recently shown improvement.

Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and co. did an excellent job in their quarterfinal series against Top Esports, beating China’s second seed 3-0, despite playing all three maps on the red side. A lot of their success is thanks to support Ryu “Keria” Min-seok and top laner Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, although Faker did his part by absorbing a lot of pressure.

This version of T1 is scary, as they seem to have things figured out. Moreover, T1 can pull out spicy picks to catch Gen.G off guard, which worked for FlyQuest, who came close to a historic upset against Korea’s no.2 seed.

While T1 played their best game so far at LoL Worlds 2024 in the quarters, Gen.G nearly lost to LoL Championship Series (LCS) representatives. And they would’ve had they not stopped FlyQuest’s Baron attempt on the fifth map.

On the other hand, it was not so much Gen.G playing poorly as much as it was them approaching the match arrogantly until they realised the series was in danger. It was very uncharacteristic of the tournament favourites.

Gen.G are a much better team than T1 on paper. They have dropped just five series this calendar year, which proves just how dominant Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon and his crew are, but it will also be interesting to see whether Gen.G can get back on track after a lacklustre showing against FlyQuest.

Season-long statistics prove T1 are the second-best team here; however, they have looked much cleaner in their stomping of Top Esports, where it looked like T1 have found their long-lost form. So, as much as we can put some respect on Gen. G’s season, T1 at plus money looks like a more appealing pick.

Before T1 lost their traction in the latter stages of the summer split, they have kept their games against Gen.G close. Now, in better shape, the defending world champions should be able to do at least that.
