Another big week of esports kicks off on October 7, 2024, with League of Legends maintaining the spotlight.
The League of Legends World Championship will continue this week with elimination and advancement matches set to take place throughout the second week of the Swiss Stage.
PGL Wallachia Season 2 will enter the second and final week of the Dota 2 event, with the final matches of the group stage and playoffs set to be held throughout this week.
Meanwhile, Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Rio 2024 will kick off on October 7, with 16 of the world’s best Counter-Strike 2 teams competing in the final IEM tournament of the year.

League of Legends World Championship
Following the promotion of Gen.G and LNG Esports to the knockout stage, their are six spots up for grabs for the remaining 14 teams in the Swiss Stage.
The LPL, LCK and LEC top seeds, Bilibili Gaming, Hanwha Life Esports and G2 Esports will continue to fight for their spot in the knockout stages during the week, while the LCS top seed, Team Liquid, has a big task on their hands after falling into the 0-2 bracket.
With each of the remaining teams recording either two wins or two losses, every series during the week will be best-of-three fixtures.

Dota 2: PGL Wallachia Season 2
At PGL Wallachia Season 2, HEROIC and Team Falcons secured their spots in the playoffs after claiming each of their first three series of the group stage.
At the other end of the scale, Apex Genesis and Team Waska became the first two teams to be eliminated after they lost their first three matches in Bucharest, Romania.
There are only six places remaining in the playoffs and the surviving 12 teams will battle it out for those spots across Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before the playoffs begin on Thursday, October 10.

Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2024
The final Intel Extreme Masters event of 2024 will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from October 7-13.
16 of the world’s best CS2 teams will be in attendance at the US$250,000 event, with the likes of G2 Esports, Natus Vincere and Team Vitality expected to feature prominently.
Esports betting sites have Natus Vincere marked as the $3.25 favourite to claim the IEM Rio title, closely followed by Team Vitality, who sits on the second line of betting at $3.50.
