Vegas Falcons entered the CDL 2025<\/a> season billed as favourites for the wooden spoon, and they are living up to expectations. The Saudi squad ended the first week with a 1-6 map record after losses against Miami Heretics and Carolina Royal Ravens.<\/p>\n

In contrast, Toronto Ultra finished the first week with an impressive victory 3-1 against Atlanta FaZe and a map-five win against Vancouver Surge. They were particularly impressive on Search & Destroy, which was one of the main concerns with Ultra heading into the 2025 CDL season.<\/p>\n

Based on CDL 2025 Stage 1 Week 1 results, this is a clash between the league’s weakest and strongest teams, and it should show on Saturday.<\/p>\n

OpTic Texas lost their first match of the season against Boston Breach but picked themselves up with a 3-0 sweep of Cloud9 New York. OpTic did not great over those two games, largely due to a lack of preparation for the new campaign. <\/p>\n

With time, OpTic should find themselves contesting Major titles, but they need get their wheels spinning. Facing a low-tier team like the Los Angeles Guerrillas M80 should help them do just that.<\/p>\n

LA Guerrillas M80 ended the first week of CDL 2025 Stage 1 Qualifiers with losses against Minnesota R\u00d8KKR and Carolina Royal Ravens. They forced map five against Minnesota, but the eye test suggests LAG M80 have a lot to work on — especially their performances on respawns.<\/p>\n

Carolina Royal Ravens defeated Vegas Falcons and Los Angeles Guerrillas M80 last week, which puts them in an excellent spot. However, those wins should be taken with a pinch of salt, as they came against two of the weakest squads in the league.<\/p>\n

Atlanta FaZe have not had the best start to the year, losing against Toronto Ultra and Los Angeles Thieves. But that should not be a major concern for one of the most stacked CDL rosters, as they are excellent online and rarely flop as favourites.<\/p>\n

Like the first two games of the day, this one should not offer any surprises.<\/p>\n

Boston Breach performed better than expected last week. They took down the unprepared OpTic Texas and played a competitive game against Minnesota R\u00d8KKR, which is enough to believe the Breach can be a potent mid-table team.<\/p>\n

Vancouver Surge belong in the same basket as Boston, as a mid-table squad with the potential to shake up the league. They looked pretty good in the first week, beating the Falcons 3-1 and Miami Heretics on map five.<\/p>\n

There is little to separate these two teams, but Vancouver Surge seem like the most likely victors. Their slaying still needs some work, but once Jordan “Abuzah” Fran\u00e7ois gets into a rhythm, the Surge should be pushing for a top-six finish at the Major.<\/p>\n
